To the right is shown the famous Kilmore Cathedral doorway which originally came from Trinity Island in Lough Oughter, a Premonstratentian monastery of the 13th century. This fine Hiberno-Romanesque doorway was probably built for an earlier foundation during the rule of Tiernan O’Rourke, King of Breifne. It is also a memorial church to Bishop William Bedel famous for his translation of the Bible into Irish.
