    Product Description

In this our eleventh issue of Fermanagh Miscellany and we tread the familiar path of Fermanagh related material by our own writers. This years’ edition will be launched in the new Fermanagh County Museum at 3 p.m. on Saturday 17th December – Everyone welcome. At a mere £5 for a beautifully presented 108 page fully illustrated book with 62 images this makes a wonderful Christmas present and will be around as a reminder of your Christmas thoughts and greetings long after the turkey is a distant memory.

Vicky Herbert writes about Enniskillen’s Own ‘Colleen Bawn’ The White Lady of Derrygore and Old Castles in Fermanagh.

Dermot Maguire tells of 19th Century Travellers to Fermanagh. (Part II) 1850-1900.

Séamas Mac Annaidh writes about Rev. Charles Leslie’s letter from his new parish of Killesher in 1851, Trouble at the Forthill School in 1856 and St Molaise’s House and Bed, Devenish Island.

Michael Donnelly gives us “Now You See Her- Now You Don’t.”

The Battle of Ballyshannon by Peter McGuiness, of Derrygonnelly – an unpublished poem.

Florence Creighton commemorates in verse Lisnaskea Old Tyme Fair.

Dianne Trimble provides us with “A Wonderful Experience.”

Winston Graydon revisits The Night of the Big Wind.

John Cunningham tells of Muldoon of “The Kingdom of Lurg,” County Fermanagh – as well-known as St. Columbanus in Europe, Lt. Colonel John Caldwell of Belleek at the beginnings of the American Revolution on the New York Frontier and with Gary McCauley tells the story of Samuel B. Horne, Belleek, U.S. Medal of Honour Winner in the American Civil War.

Finally John Cunningham pens two affectionate obituaries on two great Fermanaghmen who passed away during the year 2016. Bishop Edward Daly and Gerald Grosvenor, the 6th Duke of Westminster.

Our writers have had their work appear in many books, journals and newspapers during the year and Séamas Mac Annaidh records the publications of the past year by Fermanagh writers, many of whom are members of Fermanagh Authors’ Association. Our Authors meet every first Monday of the month and we welcome new members. Enjoy!
